April 6-8 – Arkansas Trail Riders Association weekend ride at Lonesome D Horse Camp in New Blaine, Ark. Begins at 9 a.m. April 6 to 5 p.m. April 8. This is a Saddle Up for St. Jude ride sponsored by the Horsehead Trail Blazers. Vendors, poke run, obstacles, auction and entertainment are planned. April 14 – Arkansas Hunter Jumper Association show dates are April 14, May 19, June 2, Sept. 15, Oct. 13 and Nov. 3 with a derby held in August. Locations will be announced on their website, www.arkansashunterjumper.com.
 
April 14-15 – Arkansas Chuck Wagon Racers Association first race will be held at the Hole in the Wall Ranch, Viola, Ark. This is an ACWRA and Midwest Chuck Wagon Racing Association event and a rookie/summer series qualifier for the National Championship Chuckwagon Races. Free camping, poker run, steer riding, bronc fanning and mutton bustin plus more events. Many events begin on the 12th; kids under 12 get in free.
 
April 14-15 – Horsehead Equestrian Stables and Event Center High Point Buckle Series; 12 obstacle challenges held during six weekends for high point buckles. $20 per day or $30 for both days. April 20-22 – The sixth annual 1836 Chuckwagon Race will be held at Diamond B Ranch in Neches, Texas and will include camping and a variety of events which start April 13. For more info visit www.1836cwr.com.
 
April 20-21 – Horsemanship/training clinic by reined cow horse champion Gerald Cosby in Alma, Ark. 12 riders maximum. $250 per person includes lunch both days. $100 nonrefundable deposit required. Oct. 13 – Arkansas Appaloosa Horse Club Spooktacular Open Horse Show at Garland County Fairgrounds in Hot Springs, Ark. from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. This is a single judged show open to all breeds and a warm
